Deborah Mathews, the owner of Zippy Pizza, Mathews grew up working in the original Zippy Pizza, owned by her parents Jim & Anita Allen, and decided to restart it after she grew tired of being in the auto industry for the past 10 years & the uncertainty of the auto industry. Zippy Pizza reopened in November of 2007. Debbie Mathews started working at her parents' Zippy Pizza stores when she was 11 years old. The restaurants, which were located in Davison Township & Mt. Morris Township, closed in the late 1990's. But the restaurant is back. Mathews and her mother, Anita Allen, reopened the new Zippy Pizza in November 2007. "My parents are really excited about it," Mathews said. "My mom always says 'Who would have thought?'" In addition to pizza, the restaurant serves stromboli, pasta, salads, breakfast pizzas and Zippy Twists, which are breadsticks and the store's best selling item. "I did a lot of research and found out there was a real need for a pizza place in the area," Mathews said. "Two or three of the businesses around me were excited to see a new pizza place around. " Mathews' restaurant employs three people, other than herself, & they also offer delivery.
